Try cleaning your Windows XP CD. Hopefully it works..... Now, I have a floppy drive, but what I don't have is a floppy with SATA drivers on it. Such opinions may not be accurate and they are to be used at your own risk.

As DragonLord said, the memory could be bad and should be tested with memtest (which is on every major live CD these days).
